Government takes strict action against fake threat of bombing planes, warns social media platforms


New Delhi. The Central Government has adopted a strict attitude and warned various social media platforms on the continuous threats received for the last few days to bomb the planes of Indian Airlines companies. The Union Ministry of Electronics and IT has also issued an advisory to social media platforms to delete all information containing fake bomb rumors. Also, it has been said that action will be taken if this is not done.

On behalf of the Central Government, it has been said that social media platforms should decide that no user should be allowed to post, upload, disseminate etc. any illegal or incorrect information. The ministry says that a large number of citizens are affected by such fake threats. At the same time, it also poses a threat to the economic security of the country, hence under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act) and Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Conduct Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021), all social It is the responsibility of media platforms to stop spreading any kind of fake information.

In this regard, a meeting was recently held by the IT Ministry with officials of various social media platforms like X, Facebook, Instagram, Google, Meta and Telegram etc. It is noteworthy that in the last 11 days, about 250 passenger flights of various Indian airlines have been threatened with bombs. The central government is continuously trying to identify those making threats. Taking this matter seriously, the Home Ministry has also recently called for a report from the Civil Aviation Ministry. Not only this, the government has also increased the number of air marshals deployed in flights.
