Latest News :- “India supports peace talks, not war,” PM Modi said at the closing ceremony of the 16th BRICS summit in Russia. BRIC was launched on June 16, 2009. Initially Brazil, Russia, India and China were members. South Africa joined it a year later. After this this organization was called BRICS. Last year, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates joined BRICS as new members. In this connection, the 16th BRICS summit started yesterday in Kazan, Russia. Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Kazan yesterday to participate in it. Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the closing ceremony of the 16th BRICS summit on Wednesday.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Russian President Putin for the wonderful organization of today's meeting. It gives me great pleasure to meet today for the first time as an extended Briggs family. I warmly welcome all new friends to the Briggs family. I congratulate President Putin for his successful leadership of the BRICS organization over the past year. This meeting is taking place at a time when the world is facing many major challenges like war, economic uncertainty, climate change and terrorism. The world talks about North-South divide, East-West divide.

Preventing inflation, ensuring food security, energy security, health care, water security etc. are the priorities of all the countries of the world. In this age of technology, new challenges like cyber deepfake and misinformation have emerged. At such a time, expectations from BRICS are very high. As a diverse and inclusive forum, I believe BRICS can play a positive role in all areas. Our approach in this regard should be people-centric. The BRICS system is not a divisive system. We should give this message to the world that we are an organization that works for the benefit of humanity.

We support peace talks and diplomacy, not war. Just as we can come together to tackle a challenge like COVID, we can also create new opportunities to ensure a safer, stronger, more prosperous future for future generations. To combat the financing of terrorism, we need the united and firm support of all. There is no room for duplicity in this important matter. We should take serious steps to stop radicalization of youth in our countries.

The United Nations must work together on a long-awaited comprehensive plan of action to suppress international terrorism. Similarly, we should work on creating global standards for cybersecurity and safe artificial intelligence. India is ready to welcome new countries as partners in BRICS. All decisions in this regard should be taken on the basis of consensus. And the opinions of BRICS members should be respected. The guiding principles, standards, norms and practices adopted during the Johannesburg Summit should be followed by all Member States and partner countries.

By giving voice to the world at the BRICS summit, we should unite and raise our voice for reform of global institutions. We need to reform international organizations like the United Nations Security Council, the International Development Bank and the World Trade Organization within a given time frame. As we advance our efforts in BRICS, we must be careful not to give the impression that the organization is trying to change global practices.

The beliefs and expectations of the Global South must be taken into account. When India chaired the G20 summit, the voices of the southern countries were heard on the global stage. I am glad that these efforts are gaining momentum in the BRICS organization as well. African countries joined the BRICS organization last year. This year too, Russia has invited many countries of the Global South. A confluence of diverse perspectives and ideologies, the BRICS grouping is inspiring the world and promoting positive cooperation.

Our diversity, mutual respect and our tradition of moving forward based on consensus are fundamental to our cooperation. This quality of ours and the spirit of BRICS countries is attracting other countries towards this organization. Make this unique platform a model of dialogue, cooperation and integration in the times to come.
