Young fast bowler Harshit Rana has been included in the Indian team for the first time for the five-match Test series against Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah has been made the vice-captain in the team captained by Rohit Sharma. 3 new faces have been given a chance in the team. Kuldeep Yadav has been advised long-term rehabilitation due to a back injury. Akshar Patel has been dropped from the team selected for the Australia series. Washington Sundar's place in the team has been retained. Mohammed Shami, who was out of Team India for a long time, has not been able to return to Team India. Mohammed Shami has been dropped since the ODI World Cup last year.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will start in Perth from 22nd November next month. Under this series, 5 test matches will be played between the two teams. The second test match will be played in Adelaide from 6 to 10 December. This will be a day-night test match. The third Test will be played in Brisbane from 14 December and then the fourth Test will be played in Melbourne from 26 December. The 5th and last Test match of the series will be played in Sydney from 3 January.
