New Zealand beat India by 113 runs in the second Test of the 3-match series in Pune. With this victory, they became the first side to beat the Men in Blue in a Test series on Indian soil in 12 years. The last team to do so was England who achieved the feat back in 2012. This defeat also saw and end to India’s streak of 18 consecutive Test series triumphs.
This loss dealt a major blow to India’s World Test Championship (WTC) hopes. Though they remained on the top spot, their win percentage took a big hit, and this is all the more concerning with the Men in Blue set to tour Australia for the Border-Gavaskar series from next month.
After the massive defeat, fans brutally trolled the Indian team for their disappointing display against the Kiwis and for losing their first Test series on home soil in 12 years.
