Jemimah Rodrigues’ father reacts to allegations of religious conversions at Khar Gymkhana

Indian women’s cricket team batter Jemimah Rodrigues’ father Ivan has reacted to the allegations that he was organising religious conversions at the Khar Gymkhana, saying that the premise was used for prayers.

Khar Gymkhana cancelled the   membership of Jemimah after several members accused Ivan of carrying out religious activities.

Ivan said that he followed all the rules and regulations before the prayers, and there were no religious meetings.

“We have used the premise for prayer meetings on several occasions since April 2023. All the rules and regulations were followed, and the officials were made aware,” Ivan said.

“The prayer meetings were open for all, and there was no conversions as reported in the media,” he added.

He also said that when he was told to stop the prayers, the Gymkhana’s stance was immediately respected.

“We cleared the area and paid the arrears when informed about the difference in rates for the members and the guests. We follow the law and are grateful that we can follow our faith without troubling anyone. The false allegations are  disheartening.”

The 24-year-old Jemimah is one the top women’s cricketers in India. She has represented the Women in Blue in  three Tests, 31 ODIs and 104 T20Is
