New Delhi New Delhi: Dr Yann LeCun, Chief AI Scientist at META, stressed that India's diverse talent will help artificial intelligence (AI) become a powerful tool for social development. Dr LeCun, a pioneer in the field of AI, said India has an important role to play in the AI era, “because of the population size, diversity of cultures and value systems”. Speaking at a panel discussion at IIT Delhi, he envisioned smart glasses that would help rural farmers interact with AI in their local dialects with real-time subtitles. The chief scientist also talked about future models using Meta LLAMA 3 that can support India's official languages and translate non-written languages – all through open-source technology.
