Meet Vir Hirani
Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s son Vir Hirani has chosen to chart his own path. The star kid skipped his father’s production for an acting debut only to make waves in the world of theatre now. Instead of following in his father’s footsteps with a Bollywood launch, Vir made his acting debut on stage with the play Letters of Suresh, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan.
What makes Vir’s debut particularly striking is the challenge he took on. In Letters of Suresh, he performed a demanding 35-minute monologue—a rare feat in theatre. The play was penned by Rajiv Joseph who explores complex human relationships through letters in his skit. With themes of love, loss, and longing, Vir’s performance stood out further captivating the audience.
One audience member, clearly impressed, shared, “The play was spectacular, but what blew me away was Vir Hirani’s performance. Holding the stage with a 35-minute monologue is no easy task, yet he did it with such ease and depth.”
Who is Vir Hirani?
For the unversed, Vir Hirani is a graduate of the RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art). Since his teenage, he has been making short films and has even worked as a cinematographer in the short film Superman Pagdi Nahin Pehenta Kya? (2014). He has also starred in projects like Yoon Hota Toh, Apna Apna Andaz, Doosri Kaksha, and The Doctor Will See You Now.
Additionally, he made his directorial debut with Return Gift, which premiered at the 18th edition of the International Children’s Film Festival of India in Hyderabad. The film won several accolades there.
