Recently, there have been frequent bomb threats against domestically operated flights from India to foreign countries. Thus, in the last 12 days alone, more than 275 flights of Indian Airlines have received bomb threats.
Due to this, passengers are continuously facing inconvenience due to actions like emergency landing of flights, change in travel time and time delay. Apart from this, there is a loss of up to Rs 3 crore every time as airport charges for emergency landing and compensation to passengers. Most of these threats have come through social media. After this, the central government has asked web companies like Meta and X to share data related to bomb threats. Action is also being taken to trace the fraudsters. Cyber crime police is actively investigating the matter.
Yesterday, more than 25 domestic and international flights of Indian companies received bomb threats, while more than 80 flights were bombed in a single day. An IndiGo spokesperson said that yesterday, bomb threats were received on 7 IndiGo flights: Delhi – Istanbul, Jeddah – Mumbai, Mumbai – Istanbul, Hyderabad – Chandigarh, Pune – Jodhpur, Kozhikode – Dammam, Udaipur – Delhi. Due to this, strict checking was done at airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kozhikode. This caused a lot of trouble to the passengers. According to reports, yesterday 7 flights each of Vistara and SpiceJet and 6 flights of Air India received bomb threats.
