Nasser Hussain criticises England’s performance in Test series loss to Pakistan, says batters exposed by spinners on rank turners

Nasser Hussain has criticised England after their 1-2 loss to Pakistan in the Test series. Despite winning the first game by an innings and 47 runs, the visitors couldn’t challenge the home team on rank turners in the last two games.

Hussain claimed that England batters were exposed by the Pakistan spinners after flat tracks were not given. Speaking on Sky Sports, Hussain questioned the performance of some of the side’s batters, including Test captain Ben Stokes.

“Congratulations to Pakistan for coming back and winning the series. They brought in new selection committee and spin tracks, which were  kryptonite to Bazball. Pakistan have quality spinners and their batters played spinners well. Pakistan exposed England on tracks that helped the spinners. England lack batters who can play spin well and even the quality of their spinners was not great,” Nasser Hussain said on Sky Sports.

‘There is no doubt that scores go down and spinners go up on spinning pitches, but there is a conflict with the English batting. The moment the batters are offered a flat track, they go bang and bang, but if the spin tracks are introduced, they stop scoring runs,” he added.

“Three top order batters have struggled against the slow bowlers. Zak Crawley should be doing what Saud Shakeel did. Ben Stokes hasn’t done anything impressive in Asia. He used to be a good player of spin bowling but that has gone missing on tracks that offer turn.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Sham Masood finally has a reason to smile. After losing six Tests in a row, he managed to lead the team to a series win. Pakistan suffered defeats in Australia and against Bangladesh at home. Even the first game against England was a nightmare before the selectors took a few harsh steps, and Pakistan were able to bounce back.
