The fight between two sons-in-law has become interesting, hence Karhal does not want to lose, Akhilesh

Lucknow : During the by-elections of the Assembly in Uttar Pradesh, everyone's eyes are once again on Karhal Assembly seat of Mainpuri district, where a tough competition is being seen between two sons-in-law. For this, both the main parties are making direct and indirect efforts to consolidate the Yadav votes as well as to make a dent in the votes of other castes. For Akhilesh Yadav, this seat is a question of prestige, because losing this seat will send a wrong message that he is weak in his own stronghold.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party has tried its best to win this battle by fielding the real brother-in-law of SP MP Dharmendra Yadav, the Samajwadi Party has tried its best to win this battle by fielding former Chief Minister Late. Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, grandson of Mulayam Singh Yadav and son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has been fielded. Therefore, there is a fight here between two sons-in-law and both the sons-in-law are dead. Mulayam Singh belongs to the same family as Yadav. Therefore, both the parties are having to struggle a lot in dividing Yadav votes and garnering votes of other castes.

attempt to break into the house

Political analysts say that Karhal seat of Mainpuri has become the home arena for the Mulayam family this time. Although this seat is considered to be the stronghold of SP, where in the assembly elections held in the year 2022, Akhilesh Yadav defeated BJP candidate and Union Minister Prof. Had proved his strength by defeating SP Singh Baghel. But this time BJP has tried to make a dent in the house by giving ticket to Anujesh Yadav, son-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav and brother-in-law of MP Dharmendra Yadav.

Lalu Prasad's son-in-law's reputation at stake

Samajwadi Party has tried to keep this seat in the family by fielding Tej Pratap, grandson of former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh and son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad. If we look at the history of Karhal Assembly, this seat has been a stronghold of SP since the beginning.

By-elections are being held on this seat after the resignation of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh has now been elected MP from Kannauj. He has vacated this seat and declared his nephew Tej Pratap as the candidate from here. At the same time, BJP has placed stake on Yadav face for the second time to repeat the history of 2002.

You will remember that earlier in 2002, Sobran Singh Yadav had won on BJP ticket. However, later he joined Samajwadi Party. SP has won this assembly seat, which has a majority of Yadav votes, 6 times out of the seven assembly elections held from 1993 to 2022. Whereas BJP has won only once in the year 2002. In the last four elections, SP has been continuously defeating its opponents, due to which its morale is high.

In the year 2022, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had tried to corner the Yogi government in the assembly by contesting his first assembly elections from this seat. To take over the legacy of Akhilesh Yadav in the by-election, former MP from the family Tej Pratap Yadav has been declared as the candidate. Due to this, BJP created a rift in the family and convinced Anujesh Yadav, brother-in-law of MP Dharmendra Yadav, to contest on the party ticket.

Another attempt to break into the fort

According to political experts and election strategists, this Yadav dominated seat has been considered a SP stronghold for many years. Because the people here vote in the name of SP and not after seeing the candidate. But BJP has shown that the stronghold can be breached by winning the Bhogaon assembly seat and Mainpuri assembly seat of Mainpuri district.

However, if seen, Samajwadi Party had dominance in the entire Mainpuri district. But in the 2017 elections, the Bhogaon Assembly seat and in the 2022 elections, the Mainpuri Assembly seat was snatched away by the BJP from SP. If we look at the current situation, two out of four MLAs, Jaiveer Singh from Mainpuri, Ramnaresh Agnihotri from Bhogaon are from BJP and Brijesh Katheria from Kishni and Akhilesh Yadav from Karhal were elected from SP. Akhilesh has resigned from Karhal. Sobran Singh Yadav has been elected MLA from this seat four times and Baburam Yadav five times.

such is the math of votes

If we look at the figures, there are approximately three lakh 75 thousand voters in Karhal Assembly. Talking about caste equation, there are said to be 1 lakh 30 thousand Yadav and 60 thousand Scheduled Caste voters here. Along with this, 50 thousand Shakya, 30 thousand Thakur, 30 thousand Pal and Baghel community, 25 thousand Muslim, 20 thousand Lodhi, 20 thousand Brahmin and around 15 thousand Baniya community voters are counted.

Local journalists of Karhal say that now the fight in Karhal will not be between SP versus BJP, but between Yadav versus Yadav. But, voters seem to be more inclined towards SP. BJP has put in its full strength here. Akhilesh Yadav himself has taken command from SP. There is a contest between two sons-in-law on Karhal seat. BJP had won the elections in 2002 from one seat of Lalu and the other from Mulayam. After this Sobran Singh joined SP. Since then this seat has remained with SP continuously.

If we look at the caste equation here, the majority is Yadav. After this there is Shakya and Pala. The BJP candidate has been identified not as a BJP candidate, but as Dharmendra Yadav's brother-in-law. His mother has been an MLA from SP. Only time will tell how successful this move of BJP will be.

Once again the entire Saifai family seems united in this election. Its hallmark was seen during nomination. Dimple Yadav is also continuously active in Tej Pratap's campaign.

Local experts say that BJP has thrown the trap of 2002 here. If it is repeated then there may be a possibility of change in the result, but in the current circumstances it seems difficult. Here caste factor and loyalty to Saifai family become important. Yadavs are more inclined towards the Mulayam family, because they have worked a lot for this area in their time.

Pathak and Maurya will sweat

However, BJP has fielded Anujesh only to break into the Yadav vote bank, because it is talking about completely attracting the Brahmin, Vaishya and Kshatriya voters, who are called anti-Yadav, into its fold. To handle these, BJP has given free hand to Brajesh Pathak. Whereas Keshav Maurya will also sweat to help the Shakya and backward classes. Here BSP has also fielded Shakya candidate, due to which the division of votes is considered certain. He has taken this ploy to create backward and underdog combinations. If the BSP candidate contested the elections properly. So it can make a big dent in SP's votes. This is where BJP wants to win if the matter becomes triangular. On the other hand, Chandrashekhar has also fielded his candidate to steal the Dalit votes. SP has the challenge of maintaining a big margin in this election.

SP's old stronghold, everything else is up in the air

Samajwadi Party District President Alok Shakya says that SP has already won the elections. We are fighting to increase margins. Because this is the old stronghold of SP. BJP candidate has no influence in this area. There will be no difference if BSP fields Shakya candidates, Shakya voters will vote for SP outright. Chandrashekhar has no influence here. Everyone fields such candidates. This is the land of Netaji. People of all castes and religions respect him. BJP only makes empty promises. They have no work on the land. Farmers and youth are all worried. Tej Pratap will win the election here with a big margin.

Yogi and Modi's support

District President of BJP Rahul Chaturvedi said that BJP is going to win the elections here this time. Anujesh Yadav has been in our party for 10 years. There is development and crime free BJP government running here. Karhal is mafia and crime free. The people here are living peacefully. Yogi and Modi are popular here. Our candidate will win the election by a huge margin.
