When will banks remain closed on Diwali: Know why there will be 2 days holiday

There is a lot of confusion regarding the date of Diwali this year 2024. Some people are celebrating Diwali on 31st October, and some on 1st November. According to the Panchang, this year Diwali will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31, because on this day Amavasya is starting at 3:12 pm and will end the next day i.e. November 1 at 5:53 pm. Due to the end of Amavasya, there will be no Muhurta for Lakshmi Puja on 1st November, hence the puja will take place on the evening of 31st October.

Due to this confusion, this time RBI has given 2 days Diwali holiday i.e. 31st October and 1st November. This will end the confusion between people and investors and banks will remain closed on both days. Diwali is celebrated every year on the new moon day of Kartik month and on this day there is a tradition of lighting lamps and performing Lakshmi puja after sunset.
