Tom Latham comes out to defend Team India after loss in Pune

After their historic victory in Test series against India, New Zealand captain Tom Latham came out to defend Rohit Sharma who has been facing a lot of criticism from fans worldwide. Tom stated that during press conference, India did not turn to a weak team all of a sudden.

Rohit was subjected to some difficult questions during the press conference. He stated that the team was allowed to have occasional leave days and the India should not respond hastily. When Rohit said the Indian team is allowed to lose a series in 12 years, he faced a lot of criticism and backlashes.

Tom came in to the defence of Rohit saying that his team have predicted India to perform at their peak during the third match of the series. Tom further stated that though the game moved quickly on Day 3, the visitors guessed that India would keep them in tight position.

The way that (Yashasvi) Jaiswal and Rohit (Sharma) and Shubman (Gill) came out and played, they certainly put us under pressure and we knew it was going to be a hard slog to get all 10 wickets,” Tom said.

It was nice that it unfolded really quickly but look, India are a quality side, they don’t become a bad team overnight or a bad team after a couple of games. They’ve got many match winners from 1 to 15 in their squad and sometimes it’s the game we play, sometimes you can fall on the wrong side even if you play well. We’ll certainly expect them to be at their best in Mumbai and the guys will be looking forward to that challenge,” said Latham about the Indian team.
