Miss Grand International controversy: Myanmar's Thai Su Nyein returned the crown, the team created an uproar

Miss Grand International controversy : The Miss Grand International pageant is still in the news due to the dramatic events. On Friday, India's Rachel Gupta became the first Indian to win the Miss Grand International title, while Philippines' Christine Julian Opieja and Myanmar's Thai Su Nyein finished second.

The controversy began when Myanmar national director Hu Ent Lwin dramatically stripped 18-year-old Thai Su Nyein of her crown and sash on stage after she was announced as the second runner-up.

Following the incident, Miss Grand International terminated her contract with Hu Ant Livin and imposed a lifetime ban, citing “lack of sportsmanship and business credibility,” Thai news site Khaosod English reported.

Thai Su Nyen wins back second runner-up crown
In a live Facebook post, Myanmar's Thae said she was returning her Miss Grand International 2024 second runner-up crown.

She said, “I am not under anyone's control, I just take my own decisions. I return my second runner-up crown because we don't get what we deserve: our National Costume Award, our Country Power of the Year – not the winner's crown. I am not blaming my sisters. I love India, I love the Philippines, they are the best sisters I ever had.
