The Indian squad for Bihar Women's Asian Champions Trophy Rajgir 2024 is as follows
Women Hockey News In Hindi: Hockey India has announced a new 18-member squad for the Women's Asian Champions Trophy to be held next month. This tournament will be played from 11 to 20 November at Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. Salima Tete has been made the captain of the team while Navneet Kaur will be her vice-captain.
India are the defending champions of the Asian Champions Trophy, having won the title in Ranchi last year. Reigning Olympic silver medalists China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand are the other five countries participating in the tournament. As far as the team is concerned, Sushila and Beauty Dungdung have made a comeback after recovering from their respective injuries.
Captain Salima is confident that the team will do well as she said that their main target is to defend the trophy and she is excited to lead India. He said, “It is an incredible feeling to lead the team to another major tournament, especially as defending champions. We have worked hard and we have a strong unit with experienced players and young talent. We aim to repeat our title.” We have to defend and play with the same passion and determination that we showed last year.”
Meanwhile, vice-captain Navneet Kaur highlighted the importance of playing in front of the home fans and said the team is ready to face tough challenges. “We are confident in our preparation and the chemistry within the team. Playing in front of our home crowd is a huge boost and we are ready to face tough competition from the best teams in Asia. It has been great working with Salima And we are determined to make this tournament a memorable one,” he said. India are set to face Malaysia in their tournament opener on November 11 at 7:30 PM IST.
