New Delhi. Uddhav Thackeray has suffered a major setback before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Kishanchand Tanwani, candidate from Sambhajinagar Central of Uddhav Thackeray's party, has withdrawn his name. Not only this, Tanwani has said about supporting Shiv Sena of Eknath Shinde group. Tanwani has withdrawn his name at a time when tomorrow i.e. Tuesday is the last day of nomination. Uddhav will have to field another candidate from Sambhajinagar Central seat and file his nomination tomorrow itself.

However, Kishanchand Tanwani, while giving the reason behind withdrawing his nomination, said that considering the situation of 2014 elections, this time I have decided not to contest the elections. Let us tell you that Eknath Shinde group has fielded Pradeep Jaiswal from Sambhajinagar Central seat against Kishanchand Tanwani of Uddhav group. Even before this, Kishanchand Tanwani and Pradeep Jaiswal had contested against each other in the 2014 assembly elections. Then Shiv Sena's vote was divided in the fight between these two. The result was that Imtiaz Jalil of Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM won the election by defeating both of them.

This time too, Pradeep Jaiswal from Shinde faction and Nasir Siddiqui are in the fray on AIMIM ticket. Kishanchand Tanwani says that I do not want a situation like 2014 to arise and again a Muslim candidate wins instead of a Shiv Sena candidate. It is noteworthy that Sambhajinagar Central seat is considered to be the stronghold of Shiv Sena. The names of both Kishanchand Tanwani and Pradeep Jaiswal come among the staunch Shiv Sainiks. But due to divisions in the party, voters get divided in the elections. Voting for all 288 seats in Maharashtra is to be held on November 20 while the result will be declared on November 23.
