Agni Chopra, son of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, slams 2nd successive Ranji Trophy double ton
New Delhi: Agni Chopra, son of Bollywood film producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and film critic Anupama Chopra, continued his fine form in the Ranji Trophy as he blasted another double century for Mizoram while taking on Manipur in Nadiad. This was his second double ton in the ongoing tournament as he struck 218 off just 269 deliveries laced with 29 fours and a six. In the preceding clash which was against Arunachal Pradesh, Agni slammed a 110 and 238*.
He also had a fifty in Mizoram’s campaign opener and is currently the highest run-scorer in this Ranji Trophy season. Agni, who scored four consecutive centuries at the start of his first-class career, has been sensational in the Plate League of the Ranji Trophy. The 25-year-old struck 105, 101, 114, 10, 164, 15, 166, and 92 in his first four Ranji games, becoming the first batter to score a hundred in his first four first-class clashes – a record that even the legendary Don Bradman was shy of in his entire career.

Agni on IPL prospect
Agni, whose father directed the critically acclaimed movie “12th Fail” and produced “3 Idiots” – an all-time blockbuster, dreams big about playing in the IPL. “May be I am not good enough so I wasn’t picked (in the IPL auction). For me, I want to be picked for anything based on my pedigree, it shouldn’t be because of anything else. I don’t think my dad would ever pick up the phone and tell anyone just because I told him to. I have to be good enough so that they are calling my dad, rather than my dad calling them,” Agni had told PTI.
Mizoram’s ongoing clash with Manipur was done with Day 3 on Monday where Manipur are currently trailing by 117 runs, having scored 149/5 in 40.1 overs (2nd innings) so far. Mizoram enforced a follow-on after bundling them out on 270 in their first innings. Manipur are currently climbing the mountain of 536 posted by Mizoram in their first innings after opting to bat first in the clash.
Mizoram lost their opening clash against Sikkim by 137 runs but bounced back with a huge 267-run victory over Arunachal Pradesh. They currently sit third on the table with six points out of the two games played.
