Team India Announced: Team India announced for Women's Asian Champions Trophy; Captaincy handed over to Salima Tete

Team India Announced : Hockey India on Monday announced the 18-member Indian women's hockey team for the Women's Asian Champions Trophy. Salima Tete was made the captain of the team for the tournament, while Navneet Kaur will fulfill her responsibility as vice-captain. India is entering the competition with high expectations, having won the title in last year's edition held in Ranchi.

Actually, the Women's Asian Champions Trophy will be played from 11 to 20 November at the newly developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. Apart from India, teams from five other countries including current Olympic silver medalist China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Thailand are participating in this tournament. India will start its campaign against Malaysia on 11 November.

Captain Tete expressed his excitement, saying, โ€œIt is an incredible feeling to take the team to another big tournament, especially as the defending champions. We have trained hard and have a strong unit with experienced and young talent. Our aim is to defend our title and play with the same passion and determination that we showed last year.โ€

The team includes goalkeepers Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam. The defenders are Udita, Jyoti, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam and Ishika Chaudhary. The midfielders include Neha, Salima Tete, Sharmila Devi, Manisha Chauhan, Sunelita Toppo and Lalremsiami. The forwards are Navneet Kaur, Preeti Dubey, Sangeeta Kumari, Deepika and Beauty Dungdung.
