Gary Kirsten did not like Pakistan; Resigned from the post of coach only after six months
Kirsten resigns as Pakistan’s white-ball coach: Former South African batsman Gary Kirsten has finally resigned from the post of coach of white ball format of Pakistan cricket team. Kirsten took up this position only six months ago. During this time, information about serious differences between Kirsten and Pakistan players came to light. Now this responsibility will be taken over by the head coach of the Test team, Jason Gillespie.

In fact, after completing his stint with Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kirsten took over as the coach of Pakistan's white ball team in mid-May 2024. But, his tenure was nothing special for Pakistan. He was associated with the Pakistan team in England, where Pakistan had to face defeat in the bilateral series against Jos Buttler's team. After this, the team's struggles continued in the T20 World Cup as well, due to an unexpected defeat against hosts USA and a close defeat to India, the team failed to qualify for the knockouts.
After being out of the T20 World Cup, Kirsten had openly criticized the players of the Pakistan team. Kirsten said there was “no unity” in the team and that he had “never seen a situation like this” in his long coaching career. After which information about serious differences between Kirsten and Pakistan players came to light. However, differences of opinion have also come to light between Kirsten, the former coach who made India the world champion, and the PCB.
According to Cricbuzz, serious differences have been reported between Kirsten and the players. Although the PCB may not have directly influenced the situation, Kirsten's request to appoint David Reid as high performance coach did not receive the board's support. Instead, the PCB reportedly suggested alternatives, which were not acceptable to Kirsten.
Kirsten has stepped down from the post at a time when there are less than four months left for the start of the Champions Trophy. Now PCB will have to find a new coach as soon as possible. This is not good news for the PCB as Pakistan will be hosting an ICC tournament for the first time in two decades.
