Sai Pallavi caught in a social media maelstrom over clipping from her old interview
Actor Sai Pallavi, who right now is on a promotion spree for her next film Warningis on the receiving end on social media due to a statement of hers about terrorism in an old interview, which is now getting construed as ‘anti-national’.
In that alleged controversial video, the actor is seen defining terrorism as a relative term and that Pakistanis will view Indian army as the aggressor and vice versa. The short clipping is widely being circulated to criticise her for allegedly being insensitive about matters of security and terrorism.
Bringing Warningwhich is made on the life of late Major Mukund Varadarajan, into this controversy, some X users raised questions on how and why Pallavi was chosen to play the wife of a martyred Indian armed official; others even doubted if the film was going to be a faithful representation of Mukund’s life. Calling Sai Pallavi using strong terms like ‘traitor’, some users asked how she could play Sita, referring to the Nitesh Tiwari adaptation of Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama.
While people also came in Sai Pallavi’s defence, who said a two-year-old video has resurfaced and the actor’s comments got twisted by those who are “desperate for drama.” Adding that Pallavi only talked about people’s perspectives, it is not good to jump to conclusions.
