'Inshallah we will defeat Australia in Australia', roared Mohammad Rizwan as soon as he became the new captain.
Taking a big decision, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan the new white ball captain and his first assignment for the newly appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan is going to be Australia Tour. Ahead of this tour, Rizwan believes that Pakistan can win against Australia on their upcoming white-ball tour.
In 2023, Pakistan was defeated by Australia in the 3-match Test series away from home and after that tour, the Pakistani team is going to tour Australia once again. New captain Rizwan is hopeful of good performance from his team. Ridwan also said that he had performed well against Australia in all three Test matches on the last tour and his own failures at crucial moments of the game had led to his team's series defeat.
Speaking via Pakistan Cricket Board's official video, Rizwan said, “There is no doubt that we have faced difficulties in Australia because when you look at the past results, they show that we have had some trouble there. But I am confident that the outgoing team will live up to the expectations of the country.”
He further said, “In the last series played in Australia, it was almost our target to win every match, but we lost by a very close margin. We have seen a few things and will work on them when we go there and learn positive things from it.” “Inshallah, this time we will beat Australia in Australia.”
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi had appointed Rizwan as Pakistan's white ball captain during a press conference in Lahore on Sunday. Along with this, he declared all-rounder Salman Ali Aga as the new vice-captain of the team. Rizwan will replace Babar Azam, who had earlier stepped down from the captaincy of the team in limited overs cricket.
