“Our job is to try and keep India quiet”: Pat Cummins sends a message to Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Pat Cummins feels that Australia will have an advantage over India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India are 0-2 behind in the ongoing three-match Test series against New Zealand, and their chances of making it to the final of the World Test Championship have taken a hit. Although Rohit’s team is still leading the standings, a defeat could cause them to lose their grip.

Before the five-match Test series in Australia, India will play the third and final Test against the Kiwis from November 1 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 31-year-old Cummins wants to keep India quiet.

“I hope so. It is not a bad thing if you are playing against them. They are under pressure because of the recent results but they have been in similar situations in the past and have performed well after a while. Our job is to keep them quiet,” Cummins told AAP at the launch of his book ‘Tested’ in Sydney.

“I want to beat them at home. Most of the Australian players wish for that kind of a result. Our fans expect us to do well when we play at home.

India have won two back-to-back Test series in Australia with a scoreline of 2-1. However, Cummins is confident of Australia’s success this time.

“We lost the last two series so this is going to be big one for us. Our players are looking good and I see no reason why we shouldn’t perform well.”

The opening Test between India and Australia starts on November 22 in Perth.
