Kane Williamson out of third test against India

New DelhiNew Delhi: Senior batsman Kane Williamson will miss the third Test against India in Mumbai to fully recover from a back injury ahead of the home series against England starting on November 28. Williamson did not play in the first two Test matches against India, which the Kiwis won to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. With this, India's streak of winning 18 consecutive series at home since 2012 was also broken. The last Test match of the series will be played at Wankhede Stadium from November 1.

“Kane continues to show good signs, but he is not ready to join us yet,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said in a media release. “Although things are looking good, we feel it is best for him to remain in New Zealand and focus on the final stages of his rehabilitation so he can be ready to play for England,” Stead said. ” The first Test between New Zealand and England will be played in Christchurch.

“There's still a month to go before the England series, so taking a cautious approach now will ensure he is ready for the first Test in Christchurch,” Stead said. The series defeat against the Black Caps has ended India's hopes of qualifying for next year's World Test Championship (WTC) final, although they still hold the top spot with 62.82 per cent of points. Now, they need to win the third Test against the Kiwis, and ensure victory over Australia in the five-match series starting next month.
