Apart from scoring 100 runs in 122 balls with the help of 10 fours, Mandhana took the team closer to the target by making a partnership of 117 runs in 115 balls for the third wicket with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (59 not out). Indian batting, which struggled in the first two matches, benefited from Mandhana's return to form and the team did not allow the New Zealand bowlers to dominate. Mandhana laid a strong foundation by making a partnership of 76 runs for the second wicket with Yastika Bhatia (35 runs on 49 balls) and then sealed the victory by making a century partnership with Harmanpreet. Harmanpreet hit six fours in her unbeaten innings of 63 balls. For New Zealand, Hannah Rowe took two wickets while captain Sophie Devine and Fran Jonas took one wicket each.
Halliday's innings went in vain and troubled the New Zealand batsmen with some line-lengths right from the start of the innings. India got its first breakthrough when Suzie Bates was run out on a brilliant throw from Jemimah Rodrigues. In-form New Zealand captain Sophie Devine (nine runs) also did not bat in the match.
