Big success for Punjab farmers before Diwali: News of winning lottery worth Rs 12,200 crore!

The festival of Diwali has brought a special gift for the farmers of Punjab. The central government has purchased 61 lakh tonnes of paddy from the state, for which a payment of Rs 12,200 crore has been made before Diwali. This news is proving to be a big relief not only for the farmers but for the entire Punjab.

According to the Union Food Ministry, a total of Rs 12,200 crore has been paid to the farmers of Punjab till October 28. So far, 60.63 lakh tonnes of paddy has been procured in the state, the majority of which has been procured by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state agencies.

The central government has started the procurement process of paddy for the Kharif marketing season 2024-25 from October 1. Under this, 2,927 designated mandis as well as 1,000 temporary yards have been opened in Punjab. The Center has set an estimated paddy target of 185 lakh tonnes for the upcoming season, and the minimum support price (MSP) of grade 'A' paddy has been set at Rs 2320 per quintal.

How many farmers will get the benefit?

So far, more than 3.50 lakh farmers have taken advantage of this procurement process. This has directly benefited 3,51,906 farmers of the state. Along with this, 4,145 mill owners have also applied for release of paddy.

All this development is a golden opportunity for the farmers of Punjab, due to which they will not only become financially strong but will also be able to celebrate the festival of Diwali with happiness.
