Soldiers of India and China gave sweets to each other on Diwali after years
New Delhi. After many years, sweets were given to each other on the occasion of Diwali between the armies of India and China on LAC. Sweets were exchanged between Indian and Chinese PLA troops at various locations at LAC Karakoram Pass, DBO, Kongkla and Chushul-Moldo Garrison. Under the agreement regarding patrolling on LAC in Ladakh, the armies of both the countries have retreated from Depsang and Demchok. Since then, positive changes have been seen. Relations between the two countries deteriorated after the violent clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley in June 2020. Since then, the process of exchanging sweets on Diwali had also stopped. Whereas before that, sweets were given to each other between the armies of the two countries on Diwali.

Recently, before PM Narendra Modi went to Russia to attend the BRICS summit, a border patrolling agreement was signed between India and China. It is believed that due to this agreement, the sourness in relations between India and China will be reduced, which was seen today through exchange of sweets. On the other hand, after the BRICS summit in Russia, bilateral talks were also held between PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Even during bilateral talks, PM Narendra Modi had welcomed this initiative while mentioning the agreement related to border patrolling. Such a formal meeting took place between PM Modi and Xi Jinping after 5 years. Modi had said that maintaining peace on the border should be our priority. Mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity should remain the basis of our relations.
