The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have revealed the names of the players they retained ahead of the mega auction. Virat Kohli will continue to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and his retention price has increased to INR 21 crore.

He is the second most expensive player alongside West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran. The Lucknow Super Giants will pay the southpaw INR 21 crore.

There are reports that Virat will return as RCB captain in the 18th season. As captain of the Bengaluru-based franchise, he won 66 out of 143 games.

The right-handed batter has amassed 8004 runs in 252 IPL games, with the help of 8 centuries and 55 half-centuries.

He won the Orange Cap last season after accumulating 741 runs in 15 matches, with the help of 1 ton and five fifties.

South Africa batter Heinrich Klaasen is the costliest player retained for IPL 2025. He will earn INR 23 crore for his services.

In IPL 2024, he scored 479 runs at a strike rate of 171.07 in 16 matches.
