Latest News :- Priyanka Gandhi, who campaigned for her father, mother, brother and party, is contesting as a candidate for the first time. He is contesting the by-election from Wayanad seat in Kerala. Before Rahul, Priyanka was active behind the scenes in national politics. After first campaigning for his father, he campaigned for mother Sonia and brother Rahul. In 2019, he officially joined the Congress and became its national general secretary. It was expected that he would contest the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the same election.

Then the period of decline prevalent in Congress forced him to retreat. It was then expected that in the last Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka would contest from either her mother Sonia's Rae Bareli or Rahul's Amethi. Even on this he did not budge. But since then he has become a star campaigner for the Congress party in many states. After the by-election for Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency was announced on October 10, Priyanka was declared the Congress candidate without any delay. Because of this, Priyanka is hopeful of a sure victory in Wayanad.

However, this question has also arisen whether he will surpass his brother Rahul Gandhi. Because Rahul and Priyanka of Gandhi family are not considered balanced in national politics. Now Rahul has more influence than Priyanka had in the initial days. However, senior Kerala leader KC Venugopal is confident that Priyanka will win by more votes than Rahul. For this, Congress will have to work hard. Rahul, who contested the Lok Sabha elections from Wayanad, did not say that he would contest from another seat. But after voting in Wayanad, Rahul suddenly filed his nomination in Rae Bareli. This was not a shock for the people of Wayanad. It is likely to impact the Wayanad by-election as well.

During the Lok Sabha elections, CPI's Ani Raja, who was part of the All India Alliance, contested against Rahul in Wayanad and came second. BJP candidate Surendra got third place. Sathyan Mogri is contesting from CBI to replace Ani Raja who is currently in second position. BJP has also changed its candidate and Navya Haridas has filed a petition. She contested the 2021 elections from the Muslim-dominated South Kozhikode assembly constituency in Kerala, with Navya garnering 20.89 per cent of the votes, coming second behind the Indian Union Muslim League. In such a situation, Navya is being considered as Priyanka's direct rival in this by-election. Priyanka's fight with him has raised a lot of expectations.

In the last 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi, who contested for the first time from Wayanad, got 64 percent votes. In the 2024 elections it came down to 59.7 percent. In such a situation, Priyanka is forced to win with a higher percentage. Hindus constitute 54 percent of Wayanad's population, Muslims 41.3 percent and Christians 13.7 percent. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has released a new video of himself traveling in a bus with his sister. In this he also posted many comments in favor of Priyanka. The result is that Priyanka is not able to stay away from Rahul's shadow.

At the same time, Priyanka has been forced to establish political influence for herself through the Wayanad elections. If she had not done this, Priyanka would have been seen as the favorite of her brother Rahul or the Gandhi family. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first head of the Gandhi family, contested the 1952 elections at the age of 62. His daughter Indira Gandhi contested the elections for the first time in 1967 at the age of 49 and her grandson Rajiv Gandhi contested the elections for the first time in 1981 at the age of 36. Sonia Gandhi contested the elections in 1999 at the age of 52 and her son Rahul Gandhi contested the elections in 2004 at the age of 33. Priyanka is currently contesting the Wayanad by-election in 2024 at the age of 52. This is the parliamentary constituency from where Rahul was MP twice. Wayanad is being considered the safest seat for Priyanka's victory because earlier too this seat was held by Congress.
