Kathmandu: Nepal has given the contract for printing currency to a Chinese company. Nepal Rastra Bank, the central bank of Nepal, has given the contract to a Chinese company to print new Rs 100 notes bearing the revised political map of the country. Nepal's Cabinet has approved changes in the design of Rs 100 note. In this, three strategically important areas of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani have been described as part of Nepal.
The new political map was approved by amending the Nepali Constitution on 18 June 2020. In which Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura have been shown as parts of the country. India has already termed the territorial claims made by Nepal as artificial expansion and destabilizing.

India has made it clear that Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura located on the border of western Nepal are its part. According to the English newspaper Republic, this contract has been awarded to China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation after a competitive global tender process.

Request for supply of 30 crore Rs 100 notes
According to the news, the central bank has requested the company to design, print, supply and distribute 30 crore notes of Rs 100 each, with an estimated printing cost of about US $ 89.9 lakh. However, a response in this regard could not be received from the spokesperson of Nepal Rastra Bank.
