Axar chosen as the top pick, Pant shockingly released
IPL franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) made a surprising decision by not retaining their last season’s skipper and star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The 27-year-old will now be entering the auction with many franchises interested in snapping him up.
On the other hand, Indian all-rounder Axar Patel was retained by the Delhi-based franchise as their top pick for a whopping Rs 16.5 crore. Alongside him, Indian left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav was also retained for a massive Rs 13.25 crore.
Explosive South African batter Tristan Stubbs has been retained for Rs 10 crore and finally, youngster Abhishek Porel has been retained as the uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. In total, DC retained 4 players for almost 44 crore.
It will be interesting to see on whom the Delhi-based franchise would use their Right to Match card. Also, they will need to find a captain in order to replace Pant if they do not go after him in the auction.
