New Delhi. Congress has suffered a major setback before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Senior Congress leader Ravi Raja has joined BJP. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP state president Ashish Sellar gave party membership to Ravi Raja. Ravi Raja had sent his resignation to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today itself. Since then there was speculation that Ravi might join BJP. Now these speculations have come to an end. Ravi had earlier also been the opposition leader in Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

After joining BJP, Ravi Raja said that I was serving Congress for the last 44 years. I have been associated with the party since I joined the Youth Congress during my youth. I have been a councilor for 25 years. I was the leader of opposition in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the last five terms. Therefore, when I applied for the ticket, my application was not considered and the ticket was given to those who were lobbying in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that today Congress leader Ravi Raja has joined BJP. He is one of the strongest leaders of Congress in Mumbai and we believe that his joining BJP will also strengthen us. Fadnavis said that there is a positive atmosphere in favor of Mahayuti in Maharashtra. We held a meeting yesterday in which CM Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were present. We have discussed cross-form issues.

Fadnavis said that our stand on NCP leader and Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar candidate Nawab Malik is very clear, our president Ashish Shelar had already made everything clear. We are not going to campaign for him, so the question of including him in the government does not arise. We made our position clear yesterday that we will not campaign for him.
