Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group-owned franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have almost finalized all the five players they want to retain ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction next month. LSG are expected to announce West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran as their number one pick on IPL 2025 Retention Day on October 31.

Pooran is retained ahead of current skipper KL Rahul with a salary of Rs 21 crore, up from his current salary of Rs 16 crore. As things stand, Rahul is set to go back into the auction, after leading the LSG team since their inception back in 2022. LSG had entered the IPL Playoffs in 2022 and 2023 season but finished in 7th place in the IPL 2024 season.

Apart from Pooran, young pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who made his India debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh, is set to the second retention at a whopping Rs 11 crore – a possible jump of Rs 10.8 crore for the young Delhi pacer.

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi at Rs 11 crore is set to the third retention of LSG on Retention Day. Apart from them, LSG are also set to retain Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni for Rs 4 crore each from the ‘uncapped’ players category.
