According to Pakistani media reports, the 69-year-old president has suffered several health problems in recent years. He had eye surgery in the United Arab Emirates in March 2023. Earlier in the year 2022, he was admitted to Dr. Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi for a week for the treatment of chest infection. Amid rumors of ill health, his personal physician and close aide Dr Asim Hussain had confirmed on social media platform 'X' that the President's health is fine.
According to his son and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he was tested positive for coronavirus in July 2022, with mild symptoms of COVID-19.
