WATCH, Hong Kong Sixes | Robin Uthappa commands the field for India with powerful knock infused with nostalgia

Even after retiring from professional cricket, a player’s passion for the game often endures, and this was evident with Robin Uthappa during the Hong Kong Sixes tournament. Uthappa scored an impressive 31 runs off just eight deliveries against Pakistan, showcasing his love for the game.

‌Opting to bowl first after winning the toss did not favour Pakistan, as openers Robin Uthappa and Bharat Chipli made a strong start. However, Chipli suffered an injury and was forced to retire. The standout moment of the game was Uthappa’s explosive performance, where he scored a remarkable 31 runs off just eight deliveries.

India enjoyed a dream start with Uthappa launching his attack right from the first over. He struck two exquisite boundaries off the first two deliveries and then smashed the third ball for a massive six, taking full advantage of the flat track in Mong Kok. Bowler Aamer Yamin struggled to contain the onslaught, conceding 27 runs in his opening over, including two wides. Uthappa’s aggression continued as he hit another six off Faheem Ashraf’s first delivery of the second over. Unfortunately, his fireworks were short-lived as Ashraf dismissed him on the second delivery of that over. Nevertheless, Uthappa’s impressive knock served as a testament to his enduring talent, reminiscent of his earlier attacking innings for India.
