CSK Retention List: Five-time champion Chennai Super Kings has released the list of its retained players for the mega auction of the upcoming season of IPL 2025. There was a lot of discussion going on about the future of the team's experienced wicketkeeper batsman MS Dhoni. He has been retained by CSK as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. The team has retained both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja for Rs 18 crore each, while Shivam Dubey and Mathisha Pathirana have also been retained by the five-time champions.

New Zealand batsmen Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra have not been retained by CSK. Before the release of the retention list, a major topic of discussion was who would get more retention fee, Gaikwad or Jadeja. But CSK has paid equal amount to both the players.

Sri Lankan fast bowler Pathirana is Chennai's next retention, who has been retained for Rs 13 crore. Along with this, Dubey has been retained by paying Rs 12 crore, which is Rs 1 crore more than the already fixed slab.

This retention has completely put to rest any doubts about the future of legendary captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni had earlier indicated that he wanted to play for a few more years, after which CSK has retained him as an 'uncapped' player. This became possible because the Governing Council of IPL brought back the rule under which players who have not played any international match for five or more years can be retained as uncapped players.

Other big names released by CSK are fast bowler Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, spinner Mahesh Theekshana and uncapped sensation Sameer Rizvi. The team can choose any one of these under the Right to Match (RTM) card. The team now has a budget of Rs 55 crore left for the mega auction.
