Arrest Made in AP Dhillon Shooting Case as Gang Ties Surface in Canada
A dramatic video resembling a scene from the video game “Call of Duty” has surfaced, showing gunfire and burning vehicles outside the Vancouver home of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon. The September 2 incident, which led to the arrest of Abhijeet Kingra, 25, from Ontario, has raised concerns over increasing gang violence targeting prominent figures in Canada’s South Asian community. Authorities confirmed that Kingra faces charges of arson and discharge of a firearm with intent. He is set to appear in an Ontario court today.
The video appears to have been filmed by the gunman as he fired multiple rounds and fled the scene. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a notorious criminal network linked to high-profile cases in India, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack. Gang members alleged the shooting was motivated by Dhillon’s collaboration with Bollywood star Salman Khan in a recent music video. Following the incident, the gang issued additional threats to Dhillon on social media, echoing similar threats made toward other public figures.
Canadian police have also issued an arrest warrant for a second suspect, Vikram Sharma, 23, who is believed to be in India. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities monitoring international ties between gang affiliates as they seek to curb rising gang activity.
AP Dhillon, known globally for hits like “Brown Munde” and “Dil Nu,” assured fans of his safety via social media. Dhillon expressed gratitude for their support amid the frightening incident, which underscores the mounting risks faced by artists and public figures on an international stage.
