Who is Karthik Naralasetty? Indian-American businessman running for mayor in Texas- The Week

Karthik Naralasetty (35), an Indian-American businessman is running for Texas mayoral election, to be held on November 5. If Naralasetty wins, he will be the youngest mayor of Texas. Also, he would be the first Indian descent to be its mayor.

November 5 also coincides with the US presidential election, where its a tight race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former US President Donald Trump.

Speaking about his vision for The Hills, he says, “It should be a place where everyone thrives, regardless of their background.”

“As I run for mayor, I am driven by the lessons I’ve learned throughout my entrepreneurial journey, and I believe that, together, we can build a brighter, more inclusive future grounded in shared values and mutual respect,” his campaign website quoted him as saying.

Who is Karthik Naralasetty?

Born in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, Naralasetty completed his early education in Delhi. Reportedly, he had arrived in the US to study computer science at Rutgers University.

He dropped out of the university and returned to India, where he started his first blood donation company- Social Blood.

He had started another venture, named ‘Pawsh’, with the aim of connecting dog owners with groomers.

Additionally, as a ‘self-taught product designer,’ he is a consultant with Apple, Walmart, and Levis.

His family includes his parents, spouse Aditi – they met during his early days in the US – and their children: Leilani and Jaivyn.

His family also consists of two dogs- Hachi and Hiro -and without the pets, ‘the home wouldn’t be complete.’
