Congress: Congress blames Election Commission regarding Haryana elections
Congress: The Election Commission responded to Congress's complaint on 29 October. The panel said that the Congress party should avoid making baseless allegations after the elections.
The Congress Party has termed the Election Commission's response to complaints of irregularities in 20 assembly constituencies in the Haryana Assembly elections as 'vague'. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has written a letter to the Election Commission expressing displeasure over its response, calling it 'non-responsive' to Congress' complaints.
Congress: On October 9, 2024, Congress sent a complaint to the Election Commission regarding alleged irregularities in Haryana elections. He alleged that irregularities are taking place in these 20 constituencies, due to which fair and free elections are not possible.
Commission's reply
The Election Commission responded to Congress's complaint on 29 October. The panel said, “The Congress party should avoid making baseless allegations after the elections. “Irresponsible allegations at sensitive times like voting and counting days can lead to public unrest and chaos.”
But Congress says that in response no direct clarification has been given on the important issues raised by him. The Commission rejected Congress' complaints and said it had not imposed any specific 'exemption' rule. The panel claims that they are acting only as per their conscience and avoiding any kind of bias.
Congress's counterattack
Congress says the Commission's reply refers to the 'normal process', while it does not provide clarity on some issues. Congress believes that the Commission's reply is not only vague but also amounts to ignoring their complaints.
Congress alleges that this attitude of the Commission can prove fatal for the fair election process. Congress has made it clear that it will continue its struggle against this attitude of the Election Commission. Congress says that it will put pressure on the Commission to take its complaints seriously so that fair elections can be ensured in Haryana.
