India canceled its intra squad match before Perth Test
New Delhi, November 1 (INS). Before the Perth Test against Australia, the Indian team was scheduled to play an intra-squad match against Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India A, but it has now been decided to cancel it. The India A team is currently in Australia and is playing a four-day match series against Australia A. The Indian team will now utilize this time by practicing on the center wicket.
India's tour of Australia, seeking a third consecutive Test series win, was to begin with a warm-up match against India A from 15–17 November without spectators. But Indian officials have changed their plans. Now the Indian team will train in match simulation at centre-wicket during that time.
After India, Australia will also train there, which will be an important part of preparation for some of their players. This training will be important for players who have played less matches in recent times.
India chose the intra-squad match as the sole warm-up before the first Test. He did not opt for the practice match against the Australian home team. This is a different plan from his last two visits to Australia. He played a three-day match against Australia A at the start of the 2020–21 tour, while playing a four-day match against Cricket Australia XI before the 2018–19 series.
The intra-squad match at the WACA was to be played without spectators at the request of the Indian authorities. It was earlier hoped that the match would be open to the public, just as India's two matches against WA XI were opened to spectators ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
