mumbai: Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant hit half-centuries, forging a strong partnership for the fifth wicket as India started Day 2 of the third and final Test against New Zealand in Mumbai positively.

Relying on the fifties from Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant, Team India regained control in the first session of Day 2 of the final test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

The impressive batting performance from the left-right duo resulted in a partnership exceeding fifty runs. Gill notched up his 7th Test fifty, while Pant reached his thirteenth half-century in just 36 balls.

Despite this, India still trails by 74 runs. After winning the toss, New Zealand elected to bat first, posting 235 runs on the board in their first innings. In response, Rohit Sharma’s team ended Day 1 with 4 wickets down for 86 runs.
