Virat Kohli was run out for just four runs in the first innings of the third Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Kohli has been unable to perform and former players are slamming him for his casual approach. Barring a 70-run innings in the first Test, he has disappointed. Meanwhile, despite his poor run, Virat Kohli managed to script a special record in international cricket.
The innings in the third and final contest was Kohli’s 600th and he became the eighth player to play 600 or more innings in international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar leads the list, with 782 innings, followed by Mahela Jayawardene (725) and Ricky Ponting (668). Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, Rahul Dravid, and Sanath Jayasuriya are other players to be a part of 600 or more innings.
Meanwhile, Kohli is also the first cricketer to amass over 27000 runs before reaching 600th international innings. Kohli recorded 27,133 runs, followed by Sachin Tendulkar, who accumulated 26,020 runs.
Meanwhile, India bowled out New Zealand for 236 and posted 263 in reply. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant scored fifties for the home team. The series defeat against New Zealand has dented India’s WTC Final chances. India will have to win 3-2 against Australia to make it to the mega match.
