Asian Hockey Champions Trophy reached Nalanda, people of Bihar gave a warm welcome, the tournament will run from 11 to 20 November.

sports desk : Asian Hockey Women's Champions Tournament will be organized in Rajgir, Bihar from November 11 to November 20. The trophy of this tournament has reached Bihar. This trophy was welcomed with much fanfare after reaching Nalanda Mahavihar, a world heritage site in Bihar. During this time, hundreds of sports lovers along with children and other people were also present. This tournament, jointly organized by Hockey India and Bihar Government, will be played in the newly developed hockey stadium of Rajgir.

Apart from India, teams from China, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan will participate in this tournament. Officials said the trophy will be taken to various places in the district for public display to encourage the youth, especially women, and popularize the event.

Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA) Director General Raveendran Shankaran said, “The trophy was earlier taken to Punjab, Haryana, Odisha and Jharkhand. After that, passing through all the places of Bihar, this trophy will reach Rajgir on 10th November. He said, “Our stadium in Rajgir is completely prepared as per the guidelines of the International Hockey Federation. We can also host the Hockey World Cup here in 2026.”

State Sports Department Principal Secretary B Rajendra said that the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy (Women) 2024 will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on November 11 at 6.30 pm. There will be a total of 20 matches in this competition. Travel arrangements will be made for the teams participating in the tournament to major tourist destinations in Bodh Gaya and Rajgir, so that the players can experience the culture and history of the region. Apart from this, good chefs have been hired to prepare special food for the players.
