This fort was built in the 17th century by Madho Singh for his younger son Mansingh. The unique thing about this place is that the houses here do not have roofs. It is said that this place was cursed by a sage. People also say that if you put your ears near the walls of the houses here, you will hear the voices of ghosts. Tourists are not allowed to stay in this fort after evening.
It is said that the land on which Bhangarh Fort stands belonged to a powerful ascetic named Guru Balunath. Before starting the construction of the fort, Madho Singh sought permission from the ascetic. He was given permission with one condition. The condition was that the shadow of the fort should never fall on the ascetic's house, otherwise great calamity could occur. However, his successor Ajab Singh ignored this condition and built a fort with strong walls. The shadow of these walls fell on the ascetic's house, completely destroying the Bhangarh area.
