Life Style Life Style : The four-day Chhath festival begins with Nahay-Hay. Every year on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month one should take bath and food. This year Nahay will be on 5th November 2024 i.e. Tuesday. On the day of Nahay Hai, satvik food is prepared for the fasting people. This means that onion and garlic will not be consumed even by mistake on this day. Women observing fast take bath, worship and eat satvik food. On the day of Nachai Hai, pumpkin vegetable and rice are eaten. Actually, there is a trend of making pumpkin curry or squash curry on this day. This is the first prasad of Chhath fast and it is consumed by the fasting person and his family members. Without this, Chhath fast is considered incomplete. 1 spoon ghee, 1 bottle pumpkin, a pinch of cumin, half cup gram dal, green coriander, 1 spoon garam masala.
Step 1: First of all, wash the pumpkin and peel it thoroughly. Now let's cut it into small pieces. Add a pinch of cumin and chilli to 1 spoon of ghee and temper it. Then add chopped bottle gourd pieces into it.
Second step: When the bottle gourd pieces become a little soft, add the soaked gram mixture to it and also add garam masala. Now cook the vegetables on medium flame.
Step Three: Once the pumpkin is completely melted, garnish with cilantro. Light two lamps in front of the picture of Chhath Maiya and offer pumpkin vegetable and bhata (rice) to the mother. Perform the ritual puja and then eat this prasad.
