There was tight deployment of police force at the spot. As the road in front of the temple was closed, they demonstrated outside the gate. It was declared an illegal gathering by the regional police, after which the rally dispersed late in the evening. It is being told that weapons were also seen in the demonstration.
The Hindu Mahasabha temple in Brampton city of Canada was targeted by extremists on Sunday. Peel Regional Police said the protest took place at a temple in Brampton. In some unverified videos of the incident circulated on social media, protesters were seen holding pro-Khalistan banners. The report said that in the video people are seen throwing punches and attacking each other with sticks. This incident seems to be happening in the grounds around the Hindu Sabha temple.
Officer suspended for participating in pro-Khalistan protest
Peel Regional Police confirmed it suspended an officer for participating in a pro-Khalistan protest. A spokesperson said, 'We are aware of the video going viral on social media. In this, an off-duty Peel police officer is shown participating in the demonstration. This officer has been suspended as per the Community Safety and Police Act. He said the circumstances depicted in the video are under investigation and we cannot provide further information until that investigation is complete.
India has given a strong reaction against this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted an X in this regard and expressed hope that the Canadian government will ensure justice and maintain the rule of law. Modi wrote in his post on Twitter, 'I strongly condemn the deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. The cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats are equally appalling. Such acts of violence will never weaken India's resolve.
