India is capable of organizing Olympic Games in the country: Deepak Hooda

New Delhi, November 5 (IANS). Arjun Awardee and former Indian Kabaddi team captain Deepak Hooda has said that India is capable of organizing Olympic Games in the country.

In a special conversation with 'IANS' in Rohtak, Deepak said that a meeting of the International Olympic Committee was held in Mumbai in which the Olympic Games were discussed. He said that when big events like G-20 can be held in the country then why not the Olympic Games. India is capable of organizing even the biggest events.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on several occasions expressed India's interest in hosting the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games, he said. Ever since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, sports and players have got a boost. The Prime Minister wants Olympic Games to be held in the country because before 2014, only one or two Olympic medals were won in the country. Now after 2014, many medals are coming continuously for the country.

It is noteworthy that the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has formally sent a letter of intent to the future host commission, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 1, expressing India's interest to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036. .

Last year, at the 141st IOC session held in Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi had confirmed India's interest in hosting the Olympic Games in the year 2036 and claimed that 140 crore Indians are committed to organizing these Games.

He had said, “We will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to organize the Olympics on Indian soil in the year 2036. This is the age-old dream and aspiration of 140 crore Indians. This dream has to be realized with your cooperation and support.”

The hosting rights for the Olympics will be allocated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through an extensive host selection process. The IOC has a dedicated body, called the Future Host Commission, which deals with the subject.
