Cricket News Desk. The retention process for the Indian Premier League 2025 has been completed. In such a situation, now the mega auction is awaited. IPL has not yet given any official information regarding the mega auction as to when and where it will take place, but some media reports are claiming that the mega auction can be held in Riyadh. It is being said in the reports that all the teams will bid on the players at the end of this month on 24th and 25th November. Although, these are just media reports, but it is believed that soon an official announcement regarding the mega auction can be made by IPL. In such a situation, it is expected that a lot of money will be showered on Indian players in this auction.
How has the IPL been maintained?
A total of 46 players including all the teams have been retained for IPL 2025. 30 Indian and 10 foreign players are retained. Punjab Kings have the lowest retention in IPL, they have retained only 2 players and they are going to get the highest amount in the auction. Punjab will be looking for a captain in the mega auction.
Due to lack of retention in IPL, many big star players could not be retained and now they are going to be auctioned. Among these players, the franchise can spend huge amount on players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler and Glenn Maxwell.
Five teams are looking for a captain
A total of five teams will be looking for captains in the mega auction for IPL 2025. The first of these is Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR has not retained its captain Shreyas Iyer. Apart from this, Punjab Kings will also bid for the captain. In this list, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore also need a captain.
