1574 Players Registered for IPL 2025 Mega Auction
With the players’ registration for entering for IPL 2025 mega auction pool officially closed on November 04, a total of 1574 players have signed up to enter the auction which will be held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.
The list has included 320 capped players, 1224 uncapped players and 30 players from Associate nations. It includes high-profile players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer who were the captains of Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders who were listed in a base price of INR 2 crore along with Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Shami who hasn’t played any cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final due to injury has also been listed at a base price of INR 2 crore.
The other Indian players with a maximum base price of INR 2 crore are Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Ishan Kishan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T Natrajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Sirah and Umesh Yadav.
Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan who went unsold in the previous auction, have registered at a base price of INR 75 lakhs.
Stokes has opted out of IPL 2024 to manage his workload. The IPL governing rules have brought a change this year implementing that overseas players who do not register for the mega auction will not allowed to register for the subsequent mini-auction, only with exceptions in case of injuries or medical conditions.
This was brought in to discourage players from targeting only mini auctions, where the bids are typically higher than mega auctions.
Mitchell Starc who has been the most expensive player in IPL history, when KKR bought him for INR 24.50 crore in 2024 has back in the action pool for a base price of INR 2 crore.
Despite not playing in the IPL since 2023, Jofra Archer has been also listed at the same base price.
Meanwhile, James Anderson who made his international retirement this year has registered to the auction for a base price of INR 1.25 crore despite not playing in T20 since 2014. After his retirement, he took over the role of bowling coach with the England team.
As per the IPL committee rules, each franchise can have 25 players in their squad, out of which a maximum of 8 can be foreign players. In Playing 11, each team can have a maximum of 4 overseas players in the mix.
After the franchises revealed their retained players list on October 31, they are preparing for the upcoming mega auction event scheduled on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.
Despite the event being hosted overseas, IPL fans can still enjoy the IPL 2025 auction live streaming from their home.
As a part of the season, BCCI will release the IPL 2025 schedule, IPL 2025 squad, IPL 2025 live streaming, IPL 2025 ticket booking links, and IPL 2025 team jersey details right before the start of the tournament.
