US presidential election
It should be noted that Donald Trump has been projected as the 47th President of the United States after a historic political comeback in the critical Pennsylvania vote. The victory brings 20 electoral votes, putting Trump’s total count at 277, thus exceeding the 270 electoral votes required to claim the presidency. His election marks the first time since over 120 years that a president is elected after losing a second term, as set by Grover Cleveland in 1892.
The decisive victory in Pennsylvania is a crucial swing state that ensures the Democratic challenger Kamala Harris’s hopes of becoming the president. Harris now has 226 electoral votes as Trump’s momentum surges with such victories in swing states including North Carolina and Georgia.
A Stunning Political Return
Trump’s way to the White House, buoyed by winning North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, signals a tremendous comeback to the political battlefield. His campaign headquarters at Palm Beach, Florida erupted in celebration as his followers hailed the comeback. And with the result finalized, Pennsylvania, Trump’s electoral majority is now secure. He now stands poised for a second term at the White House.
Georgia State was one of the very swing states that had just flipped Democratic in 2020. Trump won in a very close contest in that state, beating Harris with 50.9 percent of the vote, defeating her by just over 120,000 votes. What’s more, this happened at a time when demographics are changing in Georgia from red to blue, which might favor Democrats in future races.
In the US presidential election, Republican candidate Donald Trump has received 248 out of 538 electoral votes and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has received 216 electoral votes. Any candidate will need at least 270 electoral votes out of 538 to win.
