Latest News :- The Punjab and Haryana High Court has come down heavily on the Punjab government for re-release of a video interview given by Lawrence Bishnoi while he was in jail. A few days ago, former minister Baba Siddiqui was shot dead in Maharashtra. Punjabi Dada Lawrence Bishnoi's gang was responsible for his murder. At present, Lawrence Bishnoi has been arrested in 2022 terror cases and is lodged in Gujarat jail. However, Lawrence Bishnoi's name has also been in the news in connection with the murder of Baba Siddiqui and threatening to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
Lawrence Bishnoi, who was arrested in a cross-border drug smuggling case and is currently in Gujarat's Sabarmati jail, is staging the crimes as if he is on the inside. Meanwhile, a video interview of Lawrence Bishnoi was broadcast on a private television while he was in a Punjab jail. This caused a lot of controversy. The case was being investigated by a Special Investigation Team, while 7 police officers related to it have been suspended. The video interview in this case was also released on social media. After the court order, the video was removed from social media.
However, this video has now gone viral on social media. Punjab and Haryana High Court has strongly condemned this incident. In this regard, on Monday, a bench of Justices Anupinder Singh and Labita Banerjee said, senior jail authorities have provided a studio-like facility for video interview of a convict in the jail. This is like glorifying crime. This seems to encourage the criminal to commit more crimes.
A serious investigation has been ordered in this regard. A 3-member committee headed by Special DGP Praboth Kumar will investigate the matter afresh. The committee will submit its report in the next 6 weeks. This is what the judges said. It is noteworthy that 71 cases are pending against Lawrence Bishnoi in Punjab alone.
