big news!!!! Big scams started happening through Chat GPT, your account may also become empty
Tech News Desk,OpenAI's popular AI chatbot ChatGPT has become so advanced today that it can do many tasks in minutes. From here you can know anything in a jiffy. However, some cyber criminals are misusing it, such as writing malware and providing criminal advice. At the same time, a new research has revealed something shocking. Research has shown that cyber criminals are carrying out financial scams using ChatGPT's GPT-4 based real-time voice API.
This shortcoming in ChatGPT
According to researchers at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), tools like ChatGPT lack security measures, making them vulnerable to cyber crimes such as bank transfers, cryptocurrency transfers, gift card scams, and user credential theft. The research also suggested that AI agents like ChatGPT could be used to trick people into transferring money by copying real people and using real websites like Bank of America. According to the research, testing on Common Scams has recorded success rates ranging from 20% to 60%, which involved 26 browser actions and took approximately three minutes.
Easy to steal credentials from Gmail and Instagram?
However, the research also showed that bank transfers had a higher failure attempt rate due to specific navigation, while the success rates for credential theft from Gmail and Instagram were 60% and 40%. Researchers have also said that the cost of carrying out these types of scams is quite low, which is an average of $0.75 i.e. around Rs 63, while the cost of attempts like bank transfer is $2.51 i.e. around Rs 211.
What did OpenAI say on this matter?
At the same time, OpenAI, which has developed ChatGPT, while giving feedback on this situation, said that they are continuously strengthening ChatGPT so that it can be prevented from being used for wrong purposes and its creativity also remains intact. OpenAI views UIUC's research as a helpful step towards increasing the security of AI and states that this type of research helps them prevent malicious use.
